Business's rely more and more on sophisticated reporting and analytical tools. These sizable investments value can be significantly reduced unless company master data and structure data (report category rollups) are carefully managed.

Examples of  master data 'Dimensions'  are.:

Having different sources for product, customer and financial master data can cause incorrect totals on company reports and can lead to poor business decisions.

  • Brands can have different lists of products between departments. That is, the Logistics' Brand X is different from Sales' Brand X. What happens when the two departments discuss the sales forecast? When Sales say we need 10,000 units of Brand X. Logistics could potentially source the wrong products.
  • Often financial reports need to be structured differently when reporting to head office. These extra account groupings are often created using Excel "lookups" which is prone to inaccuracy and lots of manual checking. Dimension Manager can be used to create many alternate account groupings for different target audiences. These alternate hierarchies are then loaded into the company reporting systems to generate the required information. The company does not have to modify its existing accounting system to do this.
  • Sales Territories are always being restructured. This makes reporting and managing them difficult. A central place to manage customer information and sales areas makes it easy for the reporting systems to restate targets and actual sales by territory.
